## Biography

Lidiya Novi was a Soviet and Russian costume designer. She graduated in 1956 from the artistic faculty of the Moscow Textile Institute as an artist-modeler. In 1957 she joined Mosfilm, initially as a production designer before specialising in costume design.

Her credits include *Andrei Rublev* (1966, shared with Maya Abar-Baranovskaya), *Beg* (1970), *Legenda o Tile* (1977), *Sportloto-82* (1982) and *Boris Godunov* (1986). She received the Nika Award for Best Costume Design for the latter. From 1977 she taught at the artistic faculty of VGIK and co-founded its workshop for film and television costume designers. She was awarded the title of Honoured Artist of the RSFSR in 1983.
