## Biography

Lilo Yarson was a Cuban actor. Born Ángel Luis Oyarzun González in Havana, he studied at the University of Miami and Columbia University in New York, graduating in Liberal Arts with a specialism in English Literature. He also wrote plays, including *Cambio de horizonte* and *I Hate You, Darling*.

He played Joaquin in the film *For Whom the Bell Tolls* (1943), directed by Sam Wood. He appeared in three further films: *Pirates of Monterey* (1947) as a sentry, *Adventure Island* (1947) as David, and *Arch of Triumph* (1948) as Alvarez. During the Second World War he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Cuba.

Yarson later returned to Cuba, where he worked in theatre and on television, and presented a film project. He lost an arm in a domestic accident, emigrated to Mexico, and died there following a further accident.
