## Biography

Linden Travers (born Florence Lindon-Travers) was a British actress. She made her first stage appearance at the Newcastle Playhouse in 1933 and her West End debut the following year in Ivor Novello's *Murder in Mayfair*. Her first film was *Children of the Fog* (1935).

She appeared in supporting roles in several British films of the 1930s and 1940s, including Carol Reed's *Bank Holiday* (1938) and *The Stars Look Down* (1940). One of her best-known performances was as 'Mrs.' Margaret Todhunter in Alfred Hitchcock's *The Lady Vanishes* (1938). She played the title role in the 1948 film *No Orchids for Miss Blandish*, which she had also performed on stage in 1942. Other credits include *Quartet* (1948) and *The Bad Lord Byron* (1949). She was the elder sister of actor Bill Travers.

Travers retired from films after her second marriage in 1948, though she made occasional television appearances. She later worked as a painter and qualified as a hypnotist and psychotherapist.
