## Biography

Lindsay Kemp (1938–2018) was a British dancer, actor, mime artist and choreographer. He appeared as Alder MacGreagor in *The Wicker Man* (1973) and took roles in *Sebastiane* (1976), *Valentino* (1977), *Jubilee* (1978) and *Velvet Goldmine* (1998).

Kemp trained in dance with Hilde Holger and mime with Marcel Marceau. He formed his own company in the early 1960s and became known for productions such as *Flowers*. He taught dance and movement to David Bowie and Kate Bush, and staged elements of Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust performances.
