## Biography

Lisa Holdsworth is a British television writer and playwright. She began her screenwriting career with a standalone episode of the ITV series *Fat Friends* after working as personal assistant to Kay Mellor. She subsequently joined the writing team on the soap opera *Emmerdale* for several years.

Her subsequent credits include multiple episodes of *New Tricks*, *Waterloo Road*, *Robin Hood*, *Midsomer Murders*, *A Discovery of Witches* (where she served as co-showrunner on series 3), *All Creatures Great and Small* and *Call the Midwife*. She created and executive produced the Channel 4 series *Dreamers*, broadcast in 2025. In 2011 she won the Writer of the Year award at the RTS Yorkshire Awards for her work on *Waterloo Road*.

Holdsworth has also written for radio and the stage, including the adaptation *Black Teeth and a Brilliant Smile* about playwright Andrea Dunbar, which opened in 2019. She served as Chair of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain from 2019 to 2023.
