## Biography

Lisa Lu is a Chinese-American actress. Born Lu Pingxiang on 19 January 1927 in Beijing, she began performing in Kunqu opera as a teenager before emigrating to the United States. She has worked in Hong Kong, American and mainland Chinese film and television since her debut in 1958.

Lu won the Golden Horse Award for Best Actress twice and Best Supporting Actress once during the 1970s. She is known for her roles as the Empress Dowager Cixi in *The Last Emperor* (1987) and as Ah Ma in *Crazy Rich Asians* (2018). In 2025 she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, becoming the oldest person so honoured.

She is the only person who is a member of both the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
