She was educated at Wadham College, Oxford, and began her career as a script reader and editor. She produced at the BBC before becoming head of drama at Channel 4 and later heading Scott Free Productions UK. In 2017 Marshall founded Hera Pictures. She is best known for producing the 2025 film *Hamnet*, which received the BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Film and the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Drama; she was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. Other credits include the films *Before I Go to Sleep* (2014), *Welcome to the Punch* (2013) and *Boy A* (2007), and the series *Taboo* (2017) and *Red Riding* (2009).
