## Biography

Lloyd McGuire is an English actor born on 2 September 1947 in Birmingham, Warwickshire. He attended Bournville Grammar-Technical School for Boys and began work as a commercial apprentice at the Austin Motor Company in 1964. After initial interest in football, he trained at the Birmingham College of Speech and Drama following amateur work with the Alvechurch Amateur Dramatic Society and at the Crescent Theatre.

McGuire is best known for playing Bob Porter in the Channel 4 series *Teachers* (2001–2004). His other television credits include *Doctor Who* (1977), *Prime Suspect* (1992), *Midsomer Murders* (1997), *Jonathan Creek* (1997), *EastEnders*, *Agatha Christie's Poirot*, *The Bill* and *Coronation Street*. He has also appeared in films such as *Mike Bassett: England Manager* (2001) and *Ali G Indahouse* (2002). On stage he has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
