## Biography

Lola Gaos, also credited as Dolores Gaos, was a Spanish film, television and theatre actress. Born Dolores Gaos González-Pola in Valencia on 2 December 1921, she moved to Madrid in 1943 and began her career in the theatre companies of Mary Carrillo, Guillermo Marín and Mercedes Prendes after time in South America following the Spanish Civil War.

She appeared in more than fifty films, often in supporting roles. Her best-known performances include Enedina in Luis Buñuel’s *Viridiana* (1961) and Saturna in his *Tristana* (1970). She also played Martina in José Luis Borau’s *Furtivos* (1975) and Tía Chus in Jaime de Armiñán’s *Mi querida señorita* (1972). Earlier credits include work with Juan Antonio Bardem and Luis García Berlanga.

Gaos died in Madrid on 4 July 1993.
