Lorenzo Carcaterra is an American novelist, journalist and television writer. Born on 16 October 1954 in New York City, he began his career as a reporter and editor at the New York Daily News before moving into television and fiction.

He is best known for the novel *Sleepers* (1995), which was adapted into a feature film in 1996. Carcaterra has written and produced episodes of the NBC series *Law & Order* (1990), including the episodes 'Couples' (2003), 'Payback' (2004) and 'Cry Wolf' (2005). His other novels include *Apaches* (1997), *Gangster* (2001) and *Street Boys* (2002). He has also written pilots for several television series.
