## Biography

Loretta Tupper (1906–1990) was an American actress, singer and pianist. Born Loretta Clemens in Marblehead, Ohio, she began performing as a child pianist and later toured in vaudeville with her brother Jack Clemens. After vaudeville declined, the siblings worked in radio, appearing on NBC programmes including the musical comedy series *The Gibson Family*.

Tupper semi-retired after the birth of her daughter in 1942 and later ran a talent school in Queens. She returned to performing in the 1970s, appearing in numerous television commercials, notably the Fruit of the Loom campaigns, and as Miss Trump on *Sesame Street* from 1983 to 1987. Her film roles included *Annie Hall* (1977), *The King of Comedy* (1982) as the Stage Door Fan, and *The Purple Rose of Cairo* (1985).
