## Biography

Lori Singer is an American actress and musician. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, she trained as a cellist at the Juilliard School, becoming its youngest graduate, and made her professional debut with the Oregon Symphony.

She began her screen career in the television series *Fame* (1982–1983) as Julie Miller, a role written to showcase her musical abilities. Singer gained prominence for her leading performance as Ariel Moore in the film *Footloose* (1984). Subsequent credits include *The Falcon and the Snowman* (1985), *Warlock* (1989) and *Short Cuts* (1993).

She is the daughter of conductor Jacques Singer and the sister of actor Marc Singer.
