She wants a drink and a swim and says so, repeatedly, and her boredom is the one thing in the film that looks unforced. The first time we notice Lori Williams in Russ Meyer's *Faster, Pussycat* (1965) she is lying on top of a Porsche in the desert, saying she wants a drink and a swim. She will say it again. Tura Satana's Varla issues orders, Haji's Rosie hovers and sulks, and Williams's Billie lounges, complains and looks for the nearest water, and the three of them together tell you the whole plot before it has started: nobody trusts anyone, and nobody has to say so. The reviews at the time found the acting crude, and it is pitched broadly; a subtler Billie would have been a worse one. The part is one note, and Williams plays the note as if she were being paid by the hour.
