## Biography

Louis Forbes (born Louis Forbstein, 12 August 1902 – 17 June 1981) was an American composer, songwriter and conductor. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he studied music under Edward Kilenyi and Max Steiner. He was the younger brother of composer and conductor Leo F. Forbstein.

Forbes held a seven-year contract with producer David O. Selznick and served as director of music for Goldwyn Productions for three years. He also worked for RKO and joined the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) in 1951. He received five Academy Award nominations for his music scoring.

His credits include original scores for *Silver Lode* (1954), *The Bat* (1959), *Pitfall* (1948) and *The Man Who Cheated Himself* (1950), as well as music department roles on films such as *Intermezzo* (1939), *Wonder Man* (1945) and *Tomorrow Is Forever* (1946).
