## Biography

Louis Née (1895–1977) was a French cinematographer whose career spanned from the late 1920s to the 1950s. He began as a camera assistant and progressed to director of photography on numerous French productions.

Née served as director of photography or camera operator on *Vampyr* (1932), directed by Carl Theodor Dreyer, working alongside Rudolph Maté. He later shot *Hôtel du Nord* (1938) and other features including *Fric-Frac* (1939) and *Miquette* (1950). In later years he frequently worked as a camera operator on films such as *Diabolique* (1955) and *The Wages of Fear* (1953).
