## Biography

Louis Prima was an American musician and entertainer who provided the voice of King Louie of the Apes in the 1967 Disney film *The Jungle Book*.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Prima had a long career as a trumpeter, singer and bandleader rooted in New Orleans jazz and swing. He fronted bands from the late 1920s and later performed as a Vegas lounge act. The *Jungle Book* role, in which he performed the song "I Wan'na Be Like You", introduced his work to new audiences.
