## Biography

Louis Stevens (25 December 1896 – 29 September 1963) was an American screenwriter active in both the silent and sound eras of Hollywood cinema.

Born in Riga in the Russian Empire (now Latvia), he entered the film industry in 1920, co-writing the silent film *A World of Folly*. Over a career spanning more than thirty years he received writing credits on more than forty feature films as well as several shorts and early television episodes.

His credits include a contribution to the screenplay of *Dracula* (1931), the story for *What Price Hollywood?* (1932), and screenplays or stories for the westerns *Colorado* (1940), *Streets of Laredo* (1949), *The Cimarron Kid* (1952) and *Horizons West* (1952). He also wrote episodes for the television series *Cheyenne* and *Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans* (both 1957); his final screenplay was for *Flaming Frontier* (1958).
