Lucie Mannheim was a German actress and singer. She was born on 30 April 1899 in Berlin and died on 18 July 1976. She studied drama in Berlin and appeared on stage in plays and musicals, including roles such as Nora in Ibsen's *A Doll's House*, Marie in Büchner's *Woyzeck* and Juliet in Shakespeare's *Romeo and Juliet*. She began her film career in 1923.

As a Jew, Mannheim was forced to leave Germany in 1933. She went first to Czechoslovakia and then to Britain. In 1935 she appeared as Annabella Smith in Alfred Hitchcock's *The 39 Steps*. She married actor Marius Goring in 1941. During the Second World War she appeared in several films and broadcast propaganda to Germany.

Mannheim returned to Germany in 1948 and resumed her stage and film career. She joined the cast of the British television series *The Adventures of the Scarlet Pimpernel* in 1955. Her later film appearances included *Bunny Lake Is Missing* (1965).
