## Biography

Lucien Hubbard (22 December 1888 – 31 December 1971) was an American film producer and screenwriter. He produced *Wings* (1927), the first film to receive the Academy Award for Best Picture.

Before entering the film industry he worked as night editor of *The New York Times*. He moved to Hollywood in 1923 after selling three screenplays and went on to produce or write a total of ninety-two films. He is also credited with the screenplay for *Three on a Match* (1932). His brother was the artist and writer Harlan Hubbard.
