## Biography

Luigi Barbini is an Italian actor whose screen career lasted from 1964 to 1971. He was discovered by Pier Paolo Pasolini and appeared in five of the director's films. His most prominent role was as Giacomo (James) in *The Gospel According to St. Matthew* (1964).

Barbini also had small parts in Federico Fellini's *Juliet of the Spirits* (1965) and in several other Italian productions, including *Theorem* (1968), *Medea* (1969) and *Pigsty* (1969). He retired from acting in 1971.

After leaving the screen, Barbini studied law and obtained a doctorate in 1973. He later earned doctorates in Sacred Theology (2004) and the Social Doctrine of the Church.
