## Biography

Luigi Scaccianoce (also credited as Louis Scaccianoce) was an Italian production designer, art director and set decorator. Born in Venice in 1914, he began working in film in the mid-1940s and remained active until 1980.

He is known for his work on *Othello* (1951), *The Gospel According to St. Matthew* (1964), *The Hawks and the Sparrows* (1966), *Oedipus Rex* (1967), *Satyricon* (1969) and *La Cage aux Folles II* (1980). Scaccianoce received an Academy Award nomination for Best Art Direction for *The Gospel According to St. Matthew* and won several Nastro d'Argento awards for production design.
