## Biography

Luiz Elias is a Brazilian film editor. He began working in the industry in the late 1950s as an assistant editor on films including *Arara Vermelha* (1957) and later edited the television series *O Vigilante Rodoviário* (1959–1962). He was a disciple of editor José Cañizares.

Elias has edited more than 30 Brazilian feature films and television productions. His credits include the José Mojica Marins (Coffin Joe) films *At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul* (1964), *This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse* (1967) and *The Awakening of the Beast* (1970), as well as *Pixote* (1980) directed by Héctor Babenco and the documentary *Pelé Eterno* (2004). He is sometimes credited as Luis Elias.
