## Biography

Lukas Heller (21 July 1930 – 2 November 1988) was a German-born screenwriter. Born in Kiel to a Jewish family, his father was the political philosopher Hermann Heller. He wrote screenplays for several films directed by Robert Aldrich, including *What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?* (1962), *Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte* (1964), *The Flight of the Phoenix* (1965) and *The Dirty Dozen* (1967).

Heller also wrote the screenplays for *Too Late the Hero* (1970) and *Monte Walsh* (1970). With Henry Farrell he received an Edgar Award for the screenplay of *Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte*. He was the father of the writers Bruno Heller and Zoë Heller.
