## Biography

Lynn Loring was an American actress and television producer. Born Lynn Zimring in New York City, she began her career as a child performer, appearing from the age of seven as Patti Barron on the CBS soap opera *Search for Tomorrow* for a decade. She went on to guest roles in series including *Bonanza*, *Perry Mason*, *Gunsmoke*, *The Wild Wild West*, *The Man from U.N.C.L.E.*, *The Invaders* and *The Big Valley*, and appeared in films such as *Splendor in the Grass* (1961) and *Doppelgänger* (1969).

Loring left acting in the mid-1970s. She returned to the industry in production, working first as a casting director and then as a producer at Aaron Spelling Productions on telefilms and the feature *Mr. Mom* (1983). She later became a development executive at MGM/UA Television and was named president of MGM/UA Television Productions in 1989, one of the highest-ranking women in Hollywood at the time. She suggested developing the film *In the Heat of the Night* as a television series starring Carroll O’Connor.

Loring was married to actor Roy Thinnes from 1967 to 1984. She died on 23 December 2023.
