M. Charles Cohen was a Canadian screenwriter. Born on 19 May 1926 in Warner, Alberta, he wrote for numerous Canadian and American film and television productions from the 1950s onwards, often focusing on historical and dramatic subjects.

His credits include episodes of the miniseries *Roots* (1977), for which he received an Emmy nomination, the series *Sunshine* (1975) and *The Campbells* (1988), and teleplays such as *Dark Victory* (1976) and *Young Joe, the Forgotten Kennedy* (1977). He created the series *Sons and Daughters* (1974) and wrote for National Film Board of Canada productions including *Drylanders* (1962).

Cohen received a lifetime achievement award from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television in 1988. He died in 1998 in Montreal, Quebec.
