M. Scott Smith is an American film editor, also credited as Scott Smith. He was born on 12 June 1959 in Los Angeles, California.

Smith began his career as a production assistant on *Sorcerer* (1977) and as an apprentice editor on *The Brink's Job* (1978), working with his father, editor Bud S. Smith. He later served as associate editor on films including *Flashdance* (1983) and *The Karate Kid* (1984).

His editing credits include *To Live and Die in L.A.* (1985), *Some Kind of Wonderful* (1987), *Sniper* (1993), *The Crow* (1994), *Virus* (1999), *Ladder 49* (2004) and *My Name Is Bruce* (2007). He has also worked in television and as a post-production consultant on *Leningrad* (2009).
