## Biography

Mack Gordon, also known as Morris Gittler, was a Polish-American lyricist and composer of songs for stage and film. Born in Warsaw in 1904, he moved to New York City as a child and began his career in vaudeville before turning to songwriting.

In the 1930s he formed a successful partnership with composer Harry Revel, writing for films including *The Gay Divorcee* (1934). He later collaborated with Harry Warren and others, producing hits such as 'Chattanooga Choo Choo' and 'At Last'. Gordon received nine Academy Award nominations for Best Original Song and won once, for 'You'll Never Know' (1943). He died in New York City in 1959.
