Mackenzie Phillips is an American actress and singer. Born Laura Mackenzie Phillips on 10 November 1959 in Alexandria, Virginia, she is the daughter of musician John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas. She attended Highland Hall Waldorf School in California.

Phillips began her acting career with the role of Carol Morrison in George Lucas's *American Graffiti* (1973). She gained prominence as Julie Cooper Horvath in the sitcom *One Day at a Time* (1975–1984) and later played Molly Phillips in the Disney Channel series *So Weird* (1999–2001). Other credits include *Orange Is the New Black* (2013–2019) as Barbara Denning and *The Jacket* (2005). She has also performed with a revival of The Mamas & the Papas and written the memoir *High on Arrival* (2009).
