## Biography

Manmohan Singh is an Indian film director and cinematographer. He has worked extensively as a cinematographer on Hindi films and as a director of Punjabi cinema.

As a cinematographer he collaborated frequently with Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra on films including *Chandni* (1989), *Lamhe* (1991), *Darr* (1993), *Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge* (1995), *Dil To Pagal Hai* (1997) and *Mohabbatein* (2000). He trained at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune and made his directorial debut with the Hindi film *Pehla Pehla Pyar* (1994); his first Punjabi film was *Jee Aayan Nu* (2003).

Singh has received two Filmfare Awards for Best Cinematography, for *Chandni* and *Darr*, and a Lifetime Achievement Award at the PTC Punjabi Film Awards in 2019. He was born in Sirsa district, Haryana.
