Manuel Álvarez Maciste was a Mexican actor, singer, guitarist and composer. Born on 8 August 1892 in Tequila, Jalisco, he appeared in several Hollywood films during the 1930s.

His screen credits include the role of the singer in *Only Angels Have Wings* (1939), Pedro in *The Firefly* (1937) and a guitarist in *The Gay Desperado* (1936). He is also known as a songwriter, notably for the bolero "Angelitos Negros" with lyrics by Andrés Eloy Blanco.

Maciste died on 13 October 1960 in Mexico City.
