## Biography

Manuel 'Guajiro' Mirabal was a Cuban trumpeter and musician. He began his professional career in 1951 and played with bands including Swing Casino, Conjunto Rumbavana and Orquesta Riverside, where he acquired his nickname from singer Tito Gómez. He later performed with Orquesta del ICRT and other Cuban ensembles.

In 1996 Mirabal joined the Buena Vista Social Club project, contributing trumpet to its recordings and appearing as Self in the 1999 documentary film of the same name. He released the solo album *Buena Vista Social Club Presents Manuel 'Guajiro' Mirabal* in 2004. He died in Havana on 28 October 2024.
