Marc Wootton is an English actor, comedian and writer. He was born on 8 February 1975 in Portsmouth, Hampshire.

He began performing as a schoolboy and created early comedy characters that appeared at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. His breakthrough came with the Channel 4 gameshow *My New Best Friend*. He created and starred in series including *High Spirits with Shirley Ghostman*, *La La Land* and *High & Dry*.

Wootton is known for his role as Mr Poppy in the *Nativity!* film series (2009–2014) and appearances in *Inside No. 9* (2014) as John, *Gavin & Stacey* (2007) as Duncan, *Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel* (2009) as Toby, and voice work in *Arthur Christmas* (2011). He has also performed in theatre productions including at the National Theatre and RSC. He received a British Comedy Award in 2003 and a Rose d’Or Award in 2004.
