## Biography

Marcel Lévesque (6 December 1877 – 16 February 1962) was a French actor and screenwriter. Born Joseph Marcel Lévesque in Paris, he appeared in over a hundred films across a career spanning more than forty years.

He is best known for his work in the silent serials of Louis Feuillade, including the role of Oscar Mazamette in *Les Vampires* (1915–1916) and the detective Cocantin in *Judex* (1916). He later played the concierge in Jean Renoir’s *Le Crime de Monsieur Lange* (1936). Lévesque began in vaudeville and café-concert before moving to film, and continued working in sound pictures into the 1950s.
