## Biography

Marcelle Corday was a Belgian-born American actress who appeared in supporting roles in Hollywood films from the mid-1920s to the early 1950s.

She began her career on the stage in Brussels and Paris, performing with Jacques Copeau's Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier company, which brought her to New York in 1917. She moved to California around 1923 and made her film debut in 1925.

Corday was often cast in minor parts as maids, nurses, governesses and similar characters, frequently uncredited. Her credits include *A Farewell to Arms* (1932) as the Swiss Nurse, *The Great Ziegfeld* (1936) as Marie, and *Dead End* (1937) as the Governess. She was the niece of violinist Eugène Ysaÿe.
