## Biography

Marcello Morante (1916–2005) was an Italian actor. He is known for his role as Giuseppe (Joseph) in Pier Paolo Pasolini’s *The Gospel According to St. Matthew* (1964).

Born in Rome, he trained as a lawyer before turning to the theatre and literature. He was the brother of the writer Elsa Morante.
