## Biography

Marcelo 'Guru' Duarte is a Brazilian cinematographer. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1968, he studied cinema at the Universidade Federal Fluminense, where he specialised in cinematography.

He began his career in the early 1990s, working as director of photography on short films including *Eros* (1990) and *Dilúvio carioca* (1994). He served as assistant camera on several features and made his debut as director of photography on a feature with *Como ser solteiro* (1998). Duarte was part of the photography team on the documentaries *O chamado de Deus* (2000) and *Bus 174* (2002). He has also worked extensively in television, photographing series such as *Sítio do Picapau Amarelo* and *A grande família* for TV Globo, as well as in advertising.
