## Biography

Marco Pontecorvo is an Italian cinematographer and film director. Born in Rome on 8 November 1966, he is the son of director Gillo Pontecorvo. He began his career in the camera department and debuted as director of photography on the 1997 film *In barca a vela contromano*.

As a cinematographer, Pontecorvo worked on the HBO series *Rome* (2005–2007) and three episodes of *Game of Thrones* (2011). He has also served as director of photography on features including *The Last Legion* (2007), *Letters to Juliet* (2010) and *Fading Gigolo* (2013).

Pontecorvo made his directorial debut with *Pa-ra-da* (2008), which received nominations including for the David di Donatello and Nastro d’Argento awards for best debut director and won the Pasinetti Award at the Venice Film Festival. His subsequent directing credits include *Fatima* (2020), which he also wrote, and the series *Per Elisa: An Italian Crime Story* (2023).
