## Biography

Marcos Prado is a Brazilian producer, director and photographer. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1961, he co-founded the production company Zazen Produções with José Padilha in 1997. He produced the documentary *Bus 174* (2002) and the feature films *Tropa de Elite* (2007) and *Tropa de Elite 2: O Inimigo Agora é Outro* (2010).

As a director, Prado made his feature debut with the documentary *Estamira* (2004), which won awards including best documentary at the Festival do Rio and the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. He later directed *Artificial Paradises* (2012) and episodes of the Netflix series *The Mechanism* (2018). Earlier in his career he worked as a photographer, receiving the World Press Photo award in 1992 and the UN Focus on Your World award the same year.
