## Biography

Margaret Armen (1921–2003) was an American television writer. Born Margaret Alberta Sampsell in Washington, D.C., she graduated from the University of California and began her career writing Westerns in the early 1960s while raising a family. Her credits from this period include episodes of *Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theatre* (1960), *The Rifleman* (1960–63), *Lawman* (1960–62) and *The Big Valley* (1965–69).

She wrote three episodes of the original *Star Trek* series (1966), including "The Gamesters of Triskelion" (1968) and "The Paradise Syndrome" (1968), and provided the final teleplay for "The Cloud Minders" (1969). Armen also contributed to *Star Trek: The Animated Series* (1973) and later wrote for series such as *The Six Million Dollar Man* (1975), *Wonder Woman* (1975) and *The Bionic Woman* (1978). She published the novel *The Hanging of Father Miguel* in 1984 and served on the boards of the Television Academy and the Writers Guild of America West.
