## Biography

Margaret Phillips (6 July 1923 – 9 September 1984) was a Welsh-born actress. She moved to the United States with her family in 1939 and began performing in summer theatre before training with Cecil Clovelly. She had a stage career on Broadway from the 1940s until 1982.

In 1947 she received the Clarence Derwent Award for most promising female performer and the Donaldson Award for her work in *Another Part of the Forest*. Notable Broadway roles included Alma Winemiller in *Summer and Smoke* (1948) and a replacement in *The Cocktail Party* (1950). On screen she appeared in *A Life of Her Own* (1950) and as Sister Pauline in *The Nun's Story* (1959). She also had an extensive television career in the 1950s and 1960s.
