## Biography

Marguerite d'Alvarez was an English contralto and actress. Born Margarita Amelia Alvarez de Rocafuerte in the 1880s in Bootle, England, to a Peruvian father and French mother, she studied at the Brussels Conservatoire and made her operatic debut in Rouen in 1907.

She appeared in four films in supporting roles: *Till We Meet Again* (1944) as Mme. Sarroux, *An Angel Comes to Brooklyn* (1945) as Madame Della, *Pandora and the Flying Dutchman* (1951) as La Senora Montalvo, and *Affair in Monte Carlo* (1952) as Mme. Benoit. She died on 18 October 1953 in Alassio, Italy.
