## Biography

Maria de Medeiros is a Portuguese actress, director and singer. Born in Lisbon in 1965, she made her screen debut at the age of 15 and trained at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique in Paris, graduating in 1988.

She is best known for playing Fabienne in Quentin Tarantino's *Pulp Fiction* (1994). Other film roles include Anais Nin in *Henry & June* (1990), the hairdresser in *My Life Without Me* (2003) and Laura Betti in *Pasolini* (2014). She has also directed *April Captains* (2000).

Medeiros was the first Portuguese woman designated a UNESCO Artist for Peace.
