## Biography

Maria Michi was an Italian actress. She played Marina Mari in Roberto Rossellini's *Rome, Open City* (1945) and Francesca in *Paisà* (1946).

She began working as a typist and then as an usherette at the Teatro Quattro Fontane in Rome, where she was given small stage roles in the early 1940s. After appearing in a few further films in the late 1940s, she married Duke Augusto Torlonia in 1949 and largely left cinema for the theatre, working with directors including Guido Salvini. The marriage was annulled in 1956.

Michi returned to film in the 1960s and 1970s, appearing in supporting roles in titles such as *The Breach* (1970), *Last Tango in Paris* (1972), *What Have You Done to Solange?* (1972) and *Salon Kitty* (1976).
