## Biography

Marilyn Sokol is an American actress who has worked in film, television and theatre. She made her screen debut in the 1970s and appeared as Linda in *The Goodbye Girl* (1977). Other film roles include Stella in *Foul Play* (1978), Doris in *Crocodile Dundee II* (1988), Marie in *Family Business* (1989), the Chanting Woman in *The Basketball Diaries* (1995), Madame in *Man on the Moon* (1999) and a Bag Lady in *The Producers* (2005).

On television she has appeared in episodes of *Law & Order*, *Sex and the City* (as Dr. Velma Rubin), *The Blacklist* and *Broad City*. Sokol began her professional career in 1966 as a belly dancer in a national production of *Man of La Mancha* and has performed on Broadway in productions including *The Great God Brown*, *Don Juan*, *Welcome to the Club* and *Conversations With My Father*. She has received an Obie Award, an Emmy Award and a Bistro Award.
