## Biography

Marilyn Suzanne Miller is an American television writer and producer. Born on 3 January 1950 in Neptune Township, New Jersey, she graduated with a B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1972.

She was one of only three female writers on the original staff of *Saturday Night Live* (1975), where she contributed for several seasons across non-consecutive periods. Miller also wrote for 1970s sitcoms including *Welcome Back, Kotter* (1975), *The Mary Tyler Moore Show*, *Rhoda*, *Maude* and *Barney Miller*, and later for *The Tracey Ullman Show* and *Murphy Brown* (1998).

She has received three Primetime Emmy Awards and a Humanitas Prize for her *Murphy Brown* episode on breast cancer. Miller is the author of the 2007 book *How to Be a Middle-Aged Babe*.
