Born Elena Maureen Bertolino in London on 29 September 1924 to an Italian father and English mother, she made her screen debut in the 1941 film *La Fuggitiva*. She appeared in nearly 100 films and television productions, often in supporting roles, working in both Italian and American productions. Her notable credits include the role of Eunice in *Quo Vadis* (1951), Flavia in *Ben-Hur* (1959), Elizabeth in the television miniseries *Jesus of Nazareth* (1977), and La Principessa in *Amen.* (2002). She was married to the Italian actor and director Claudio Gora from 1944 until his death in 1998 and was the mother of actors Andrea Giordana and Marina Giordana.
