Marjorie Yates is a British actress born in Birmingham on 13 April 1941. She studied at the Bournville College of Art and began her career in the early 1970s with roles in BBC single plays, including several episodes of *Play for Today*.

Her film credits include the social worker in *Walter* (1982), the mother in *The Long Day Closes* (1992), Verity Braithwaite in *Wetherby* (1985) and Mrs Tucker in *Dead Man's Folly* (1986). On television she is known for playing Carol Fisher in *Shameless* (2004–2007) and has appeared in series such as *Line of Duty*, *Vera* and *Shakespeare & Hathaway – Private Investigators*.
