Mark Jacobson is an American journalist and writer. Born on 12 May 1948 in New York, he attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the University of California, Berkeley. He has contributed to publications including *New York Magazine*, *Rolling Stone*, *Esquire*, the *Village Voice* and the *New York Times Magazine*.

Jacobson’s article 'The Return of Superfly' formed the basis for the film *American Gangster* (2007). He received a story credit on *The Believer* (2001) and wrote the screenplay for *Love Ranch* (2010). He also appeared as the Interviewer in Steven Soderbergh’s *The Girlfriend Experience* (2009).
