## Biography

Mark Monroe is an American documentary writer and producer. A journalism graduate of the University of Oklahoma, he began his career writing for CNN before moving into film.

He has written for numerous documentaries, including *The Cove* (2009), *Icarus* (2017), *The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years* (2016), *The Dissident* (2020) and *Becoming Cousteau* (2021). He also served as a producer on *The Dissident*.

Monroe has received two Primetime Emmy Awards, three Writers Guild of America Awards and a BAFTA nomination. Documentaries he has written have won Academy Awards for Best Documentary Feature.
