## Biography

Mark Whiting, also credited as Mark Randolph Whiting, is an American designer, art director and filmmaker. Born on 4 July 1964 in Birmingham, Michigan, he graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena in 1989. He began his career as an editorial and book-cover illustrator before moving into animation as an art director and production designer.

Whiting served as production designer on the animated feature *The Iron Giant* (1999), for which he also contributed character design work. He later provided visual development for *Finding Nemo* (2003). In 2003 he wrote and directed the live-action short *Apple Jack*, which received several festival awards. He has also worked on titles including *Space Jam* (1996) and *Duck Dodgers* (2003–2005).
